Why it's dangerous
Leeks cause oxidative damage to red blood cells, leading to hemolysis (rupture) and subsequent anemia, while also causing gastrointestinal irritation.

Signs of poisoning can be delayed for several days. Cats and Japanese dog breeds like Akita and Shiba Inu are more sensitive.
